Jennifer Tharp has been a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification holder and PMI volunteer since 2001, and is a PMI® Leadership Institute Master Class graduate. In her work as regional strategic advisor, she helped PMI chapters achieve their goals and serve their members better through strategic planning and execution. She also served as president and advisory board member for the PMI San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. Since joining the PMI Board of Directors, she has served on the Audit and Performance Oversight Committee (APOC), where she leverages her governance expertise to help PMI prepare for the future.

In her professional career, Jennifer Tharp advises startups and multinationals including eBay, Genentech, Cisco and Nikon on difficult governance problems. She works closely with boards and executive teams to increase oversight, transparency and accountability. Jennifer specializes in large-scale strategic change to prepare for major lifecycle events, such as mergers and acquisitions and Initial Public Offerings. She is a recognized expert in project and program management, data privacy, agile development, strategic planning, cyber-security and compliance risk.

Ms. Tharp co-authored the groundbreaking book, Sustainability Integration for Effective Project Management, with project managers and researchers around the world, the first to offer direct guidance to project managers on the long-term social, financial and environmental impacts of work.

She teaches project management, risk, leadership and sustainability at University of California, Berkeley, USA. She also is a regular keynote speaker at international events, where she focuses on the value of project management to achieving business priorities.
