Dear Members and Volunteers,

As we excited for the year of the Rooster, I would like to express our gratitude for your kind support for our programmes and activities.

Year 2016 was a very fulfilling for all of us at SPMI and we are proud to share with you our achievements and upcoming programmes.

 
Membership:
We registered healthy chapter membership’s growth with a 10.36% (YOY), now membership stands at 1,712. We also stabilised and improved membership retention rate.

Professional Development: In 2016, we conducted 16 events successfully, such as Boot Camp, Professional Development, Panel Discussion, Social & Networking, Charity, Project of the Year (POY), Symposium, and Workshop.  We awarded a total of 53.5 PDUs.

Project of the Year (PoY) Award
We successfully completed the 2nd Project of the Year (PoY) Award in two categories: Business & Information Systems (BIS) and Engineering & Construction (E&C). The purpose was to recognize the outstanding projects in Singapore as well as to reach out to the major organizations and promote learning and sharing among the PM and Trades Community. We received total of 21 projects. The Winners along with the 1st & 2nd Runners Up were announced at the Symposium 2016 on 10th March 2016. Our Guest of Honour, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Secretary General, National Trades Union Congress, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, presented trophies to the Winners and Runners Up.

Symposium
We successfully held our 11th Annual Regional Symposium on 10 – 12 March 2016 at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre with the Theme: “Project Leadership 360: Leading Change and Transformation” with 2 tracks and a One Day Workshop. Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Secretary- General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore attended the event as the Guest-of-Honour. The Opening Keynote Address was presented by Mr. Brian Weiss, VP, PMI Practitioner Career Development (USA).  

The Symposium had an attendance of nearly 650 attendees along with 24 eminent speakers and panelists from across the Globe. There were speakers and delegates from such places as diverse as United States, Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, UK, and Singapore.

Collaboration with Academic Institutions with ITE College West and Republic Polytechnic: Letter of Collaboration was signed with ITE College West Singapore, to train students in project management, secure internship for students, contribute to course awards and books prizes. The collaboration was renewed with Republic Polytechnic and entered into the 7th year.

Upcoming Programs and Events (Mark your calendar)
 
The 3rd Project of the Year (PoY) Awards and Members Nite:
was officially launched on 1st September 2016 and the Committee are currently working on evaluating the nominations.  Winners will be announced and celebrated at the fabulous gala dinner on 24th Feb 2017. Mr Heng Chee How, Senor Minister of State, Prime Minister’s office will grace this event.

Annual Regional Symposium:  The symposium will be held on 16th & 17th March and one day work shop on 18th March 2017. We have lined up prominent leaders, speakers and panellists for this event, so we encourage you to take this opportunity to secure your seat soon.
 

As you are aware of the chapter is run by the passionate volunteers, and we are constantly looking for volunteers for their time and expertise to create more values for PMI community in Singapore. Therefore please write us at customercare@pmi.org.sg for more volunteer opportunities.
