20131119 - FG - Project Success: What is it, how do we measure it, and how do we make it happen?

19 November 2013 | Focus Group Event | Project Success: What is it, how do we measure it, and how do we make it happen?

A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) fifth edition has a section defining “Success” in terms of completing the project within the constraints of scope, time, cost, quality, resources and risk as approved between the project managers and senior management.

However, that's not all when it comes to project success criteria. In addition to above conditions, the project manager must work closely with the customer and other key stakeholders to ensure the product, service or result of the project has met their expectations. Understanding the business drivers and ensuring that the project meets the objectives of the business will also contribute to success.

As a project manager, you may think that delivering business results isn't your concern, that it's the customer's problem or should be handed off to a Business Analyst. An exceptional project manager, however, is one that takes the time to, understand thebusiness drivers, form a partnership with the customer, and take steps to ensure that the project they lead delivers the business results for which it was designed.

That is real project success.

Now this invites many questions, including:

  • Who defines “success”?
  • How, and when, do we measure success?
  • How do we make our projects more successful?

Get answers to these questions, and many others, in this interactive session featuring case studies of projects which have been regarded as successful, with particular reference to the 2012 London Olympics project including reviews of official reports and interviews with project participants.

20131024 - FG - Secrets of a Great Career Revealed

24 October 2013 | Focus Group Event | Secrets of a Great Career Revealed

Life is too short not to have a career that you don’t absolutely love! At Ignite Global we are obsessed with the difference between those talented and capable people who seem to effortlessly reach their professional goals (climbing the corporate ladder, managing career around family or simply doing meaningful work with interesting people at great companies) and those equally talented and capable people who lose their way or lose their passion.

It prompted us to ask the question; – what makes the first group so successful? Is it education, experience, raw talent, personality, luck? We’ve discovered (much to our shock) that it’s none of these things.

23 September 2013 | Driving Service Improvement Programs using 'CMMI for Services' - A best practice approach

In today’s world organizations have to face multiple complex challenges and have been in a constant quest for solutions that enable better, cheaper and faster services that deliver business goals. Over the years, organizations have leveraged best practices from ITIL/ ISO/ Lean/ Six Sigma/PMBOK etc. to support Service excellence programs and initiatives. However, leaders of global operations are realizing that the next evolution is in institutionalizing deployment as well as boosting the business benefits while continuously enriching best practices.

With the release and rapid massive adoption of the CMMI for Services (CMMI-SVC) – a new best practices framework oriented towards a service provider organization (internal or external), several global organizations are already reaping greater value from their Service Management programs and practices.

The PMP (Project Management Professional) is a professional qualification recognized world-wide awarded by Project Management International, the world's leading global association for the project management profession. In an increasingly projectized world, the PMP is a comprehensive certification program for project professionals. Many gained new assignments and promotion with the newly acquired PMP qualification. When it comes to preparing the PMP Exam, many are groping in the dark. The PMP Exam demands the candidates know the depth and the breadth of the five processes and the nine knowledge areas as spelt out in the PMBOK Guide 4th Edition. Let Michael Lum, PMP, RMP, guide you through the minefields of the PMP Exam in a one-day intensive and interactive workshop. Michael teaches PMP Exam Preparation in a unique way using NLP and Accelerated Learning techniques. Many of his students passed PMP at their first attempt.
