Call for “Expression of Interest” survey to the upcoming 4th POY (2017-18) Award

 

 

 

Project of the Year Award honours Project teams for their successful completion pic1aof Singapore executed projects under the broad category of Business & Information system and Engineering & Construction. With overwhelming responses and support from Government agencies, Market leaders, Corporates, this program was launched in 2014 to showcase outstanding projects.  POY award program nominations will be reviewed by a group of Expert Panel which includes CIOs, Professors, Senior Vice-Presidents, Corporate Directors, EDB director, and other senior executives from the corporate world and Institutions.  

Following the grand success of POY awards for last 3 years, Singapore Project Management Institute (SPMI) will be launching their 4th POY 2017-18 award program in Aug 2017.  

In last POY award program, successful Nominations were obtained from Government agencies (LTA, JTC) as well as various industrial segments  such as Information Technology, Banking, Healthcare, Stock- Exchange, Logistics, Airport, EPC companies, Government Owned consultancy, International consultancies, Energy & Chemicals, Rail Transportation infrastructure, Marine and offshore engineering firms. SPMI - The Project Management Institute Singapore Chapter which is the Country Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI), established in the year 1999 is so glad to inform the results for the prestigious 3rd Project of the Year (POY) award, which had strongly attracted Corporates and Government agencies to obtain a record total number of 27 nominations for the current POY Awards. The POY 2016-17 Award Ceremony-Gala Dinner together with Member’s Nite was conducted at Carlton Hotel on 24th Feb 2017.  The 3rd POY Award Ceremony had attracted nearly 300 registrants from 200 companies. 

The POY Award program was conceptualized and delivered, by Mr. Rashid Mohiuddin for the first two years and is the mentor of the program. SPMI president Mr. Umesh Ursekar had inaugurated this award ceremony, shared the importance of Project of the Year award, for recognizing project management excellence in Singapore arena.

The 3rd POY 2016-17 Awards Chairman Mr. Hari Hara, presented the Overview of the POY 2016-17 award Journey, highlighted the insights of the award categories, along with the broad industrial segmentations where Project Management is largely practiced across various industries. This year, POY awards attracted nominations from various industrial segments viz Information Technology, Banking, Healthcare, Stock-Exchange, Logistics, Airport, EPC companies, Government owned consultancy, International consultancies, Energy & Chemicals, Rail Transportation infrastructure, Marine & offshore engineering firms.

SPMI was honoured to have Mr. Heng Chee How, Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s office, Republic of Singapore, as Guest of Honour who had graced this Award event, and also shared the dynamic role of Project Management profession for building Singapore’s Smart Nation vision.

Also, Mr. Hari Hara was honored with a Special Recognition Award by Mr. Heng Chee How, DSG of the NTUC, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, for his exemplary leadership and commitment as Chairman of Project of the Year 2016-17 Award program and also POY Volunteer team & POY committee were honored.

SPMI-POY-2016-17 award program was backed-up with a strong line-up of 19 Judges and Evaluation Panel memberswhich includes CIOs, Professors, Senior Vice Presidents, Corporate Directors, EDB director, and other senior executives from the corporate world and reputed institutions (NTU & NUS).

On behalf of SPMI, Senior Minister Mr. Heng Chee How DSG of the NTUC, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, presented a Leadership Impact Award, to Mr. Vivek Kumar, Assistant Director-GeneralNational Trades Union Congress (NTUC) as recognition for his leadership role in building partnership between NTUC-SPMI over the years.

SPMI POY Chairman Mr. Hari Hara and POY Co-Chair Mr. Velimir Tasic awarded Appreciation Plaques to all Nominated Companies for acknowledging their participation efforts to the POY 2016-17 award program.

The launch date for SPMI POY 2017-18 Awards shall be announced by the SPMI POY Awards Organizing committee in the month of May-Jun 2017. SPMI expects more Corporate & Government agencies participation, where Nomination submission is Free of Charge. There are more opportunities for Sponsorship companies in the upcoming POY 2017-18 Award program.

About the Author:  Mr. Hari Hara, MBA, MSc, PMP®, is an experienced Project Management Professional with keen interest on organizational growth, strategy and business enhancement. He holds double Master’s degree on Business Administration (Rutgers Business School, The State University of New Jersey (USA) as well as Master of Science (CIM) from NTU, Singapore. He has over 17 years of hands-on PM experience in the EPC business. Project of the Year Award honours project teams for their successful completion of project in Business & information system and Engineering & Construction in Singapore. With overwhelming response and support from market leaders, corporates, project managers, this program was launched in 2014. Following the grant success of the SPMI POY 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, the Singapore Project Management Institute has launched the SPMI POY 2016-2017 and invites all corporates to showcase their outstanding projects for these awards.

Eligibility

  • The project must been completed between September 01, 2014 and September 30, 2016.
  • The project must be implemented in Singapore or carried out by a company based in Singapore or originated from Singapore.
  • The total size of the project must meet following conditions for the categories:

o Business and Information Systems:

§ Minimum budget of S$2mil, and 20 or more team members.

o Engineering and Construction:

§ Minimum budget of S$20mil, and 20 or more team members.

  • An organization cannot submit more than 3 projects per category, but may submit projects in multiple categories.
  • The project has not won any PMI Distinguished Project Awards.
  • The project has neither been a Finalist nor won the SPMI POY 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.
  • PMI affiliation is not necessary for nomination.
