14 March 2013 | PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge – 5th Edition | 2 PDUs
In the ever-diverse world of projects, Project Management Professionals will need to be able to thrive using their competencies, ie. experience, knowledge and skills, acquired within and outside the project environment. In most cases, a project will probably end up being more right than wrong, especially when the Project Manager is able to apply these right competencies and also has a mind-set that seeks to “apply the best-practices” in his projects. Nevertheless, within the backdrop of this scenario, there are always going to be one constant that hits off : change!
The context in which Project Managers operate in has changed much over the last 4 years, including technological changes, new techniques, new project geographies and frontiers and other changes. In similar fashion, project management practices have responded and evolved to such changes. The latest edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) – the 5th Edition, is an enhancement over the previous edition to include more relevant practices for the benefit of Project Managers. At the end of the day, what we possess within the PMBOK® 5th Edition is a set of knowledge that could bring us closer to perfecting the seemingly confusing yet interesting discipline of managing projects.
