Dear Fellow Members,

I would to like start by sharing a quote from Henry Ford, a great leader and one of my heroes. “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”

It’s my great pleasure to share with you not a single success, but many successes that SPMI has achieved in this term so far.  These successes were only made possible due to the fact that our board members, volunteers, members, and partners have all come together and showed a superb display of teamwork and commitment.

Here are few of our success stories – and I am sure these should add more color and joy to the celebration around us.

We Are A Family Of Over 2000!
According to the recent statistics, we have crossed the 2000 mark. This is a historic landmark for our chapter and it’s also an evidence of the great trust and value that SPMI has built for its member and PM community over the years. With your support, I am sure that our SPMI family will continue to grow and prosper in future.

Regional Symposium 2013 – We Broke Our Own Records!
SPMI Regional Symposium 2013 was the largest and perhaps most successful event in our history. It attracted more than 860 participants not only from the Asia Pacific, but as far as Gulf and Canada. PMI Board of Director, Beth Partleton, also graced the event and she was extremely pleased with the success of the Symposium and also shared her views on latest Project Management trends. We also had 16 world-class speakers who educated and enthralled the participants on various topics of personal and professional development. I would like to sincerely thank the Symposium Organizing Committee, volunteers, sponsors and members for joining their hands together in creating this historic success.

Creating More Value For YOU!
We have been organizing, and will continue to organize, various professional development activities that include seminars, focus groups, panel discussions and outreach programs. In this term, we have also introduced the PMQuest that provides wealth of information on Project Management related topics for our members.

We have signed the MOU with Republic Polytechnic and Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre, in this term. This will enable us and these educational organizations to raise the awareness of Project Management practices among the students. We continue to look for and expand our outreach to other educational and business organizations in this pursuit. And once again, I would like to thank the fellow board members and volunteer teams who have put outstanding efforts in making this success possible.

The New Constitution – A Milestone Achieved!
It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction that new SPMI constitution is approved at SPMI EOGM and by PMI and is already submitted to ROS as final step. This is a very crucial achievement given the PMI deadline to complete the constitution revision before the end of Dec, 2013. I would like to thank the constitution committee for preparing this constitution draft and for your participation and support at EOGM. Without this great teamwork, it wouldn’t be possible to achieve this crucial objective before the deadline.

Our success stories don’t end here and we still have quite a few wonderful events coming up in coming days. We’ll be having the “Annual Member’s Night 2014 on 21st February”. As usual, it’ll be night full of entertainment and we have also lined up many prizes for you. And the best part is that it’s free for all the SPMI members… So don’t miss it!

Another exciting opportunity for you to learn and interact with the industry leaders is the upcoming“SPMI Panel Discussion “The Fuzzy Economy – How the Project Managers can Survive and Thrive” on Fri, 07th March, 2014. We are really excited to have few c-level executives joining this panel discussion where will be discussing the future economic trends, the challenges and opportunities for the project managers.  This is an excellent learning opportunity, so don’t miss it. I am sure that as we come together and march towards our goals, we’ll create bigger and bigger successes for SPMI and ourselves. Let’s keep up this wonderful team spirit and energy!

Thanks again for your great support! And I wish you and your loved ones a Prosperous and Joyful Lunar New Year!

Sincerely,

Umesh Ursekar
